Choose Your Future, Powys Careers Festival

Choose Your Future, Powys Careers Festival

Young people from secondary schools across Powys are invited to the Choose Your Future careers festival.

Date:Wednesday 4 March
Time: 10.00 – 14.30
Location: Royal Welsh Showground, Builth Wells

The interactive careers and skills festival is organised by the Positive Pathways Powys partnership. A multi agency group made up of Powys County Council, Careers Wales, Secondary schools in the county, the NPTC Group of Colleges, Cambrian Training and the Powys Association of Voluntary Organisations. The partnership aims to highlight to young people the opportunities available to them when they leave school or college.

At the event, pupils can:

  • Interact with over 70 employers from a range of different sectors
  • Take part in interactive workshops and demonstrations including ‘have a go’ sessions
  • Talk to current apprentices
  • Get information from colleges, universities and training providers about courses.

Exhibitors from a wide range of sectors will be present on the day representing universities, colleges, private and public sector employers and the voluntary sector, giving young people the opportunity to hear from industry experts first-hand.

Guest speakers this year are Emily Chapell, ex Powys pupil, who is a long-distance cyclist, author and blogger and Ben Sheppard, Radio Presenter.

The 2020 Powys Careers Festival is being sponsored by Careers Wales, Powys County Council, NPTC, Cambrian Training, Lanyon Bowdler, Wipak, Hughes Architects, Open University, Abacare, and West Ent.
