Careers in the post 16 curriculum

The careers and the world of work (CWW) framework was launched in 2008. All settings in Wales with learners aged 11 to 19 have been expected to use the framework to design their curriculum.

The Curriculum for Wales includes new statutory guidance for the delivery of careers and work-related experiences for learners aged 3 to 16, but the CWW framework will still apply to further education and post 16 settings.

Careers and the world of work relates to the links between young people, their learning, and the world of work. It should help them to prepare for the choices they will make that will affect their future.

Successful CWW is achieved through a planned programme that includes:

  • a range of teaching and learning experiences and environments
  • input from a variety of partners
  • experiences of the world of work
  • opportunities for personal advice and guidance

You can find the CWW framework documentation, supplementary guidance and information on roles and responsibilities, on Hwb.
