The company have also supported the school with their nurture garden. The garden provides an effective learning space for vulnerable pupils at the school.

They have offered the school support in accessing grants to funding. They are supporting the teachers to put bids in for community projects. These opportunities would add to their outdoor areas.

Winning an award

Careers Wales presented Litegreen with a Valued Partner Award in November 2022.

Shanone said: “We’re really pleased to win this award - even the nomination felt really rewarding. It has a different impact on you when someone else nominates you.

“We take this all very seriously. I used to train as a teacher. When we set up Litegreen five years ago, it was on the agreement that I could keep a toe in youth work.”

David added:

Sitting down for 10 to 15 minutes with the young people and doing a mock interview or talking to them, you see little snippets of skills and things you can tease out of them. I like to think that they leave with a little bit more confidence about their own set of skills and the things that they can do.”

Careers Wales business engagement adviser, Lesley Lloyd, works with Litegreen and Ysgol y Grango. Lesley said: “Litegreen are very deserving of this award.

“David and Shanone have provided so much support to pupils at Ysgol y Grango. It is clear how passionate they are about helping young people in the local area.

“They do their best to help where they can, and they encourage others to do the same. It’s been a pleasure to work with everyone at Litegreen and I look forward to continuing to do more with them.”
