Meeting with your Careers Adviser

You might be nervous meeting your Careers Adviser for the first time. This is natural, but nothing to worry about.

What can I do in a careers interview?

Ask questions?

Yes, we want to help you find out about your options so that you can make the right choices.

Be honest with the Careers Adviser?

Yes we want to help you so you need to tell us what you really think.

Tell you if I don't agree with you?

Yes, we won't tell you what to do but if you don't agree with what we are saying you can tell us. This is your interview.

Tell you if I don't understand what you are saying?

Yes the interview is to help you so if you want us to explain something or say it again you should tell us.

Tell you if I don’t want to talk anymore?

Yes, if you feel that you need to leave, you can tell us. We can arrange to see you another time.

Say if you can share information with other people?

Yes most of the time we won’t tell other people what you have said unless you say that’s okay. To find out when we would have to share what you have said look at our Confidentiality page.
