The Education Business Partnership

Our Education Business Partnership (EBP) provides opportunities for pupils, their teachers, and often parents, to meet and interact with employers.

EBP activities aim to inform, inspire, and motivate young people about their future career.

What the Education Business Partnership covers

Employer engagement activities

Schools are keen to have links with employers to enrich teaching and learning across all subjects. Talking about job roles, your organisation or industry and sharing knowledge and experience gives learners a unique insight into the world of work.

We can help to arrange a variety of activities including:

  • Presentations to help relate specific subject areas to the world of work (in person or virtually)
  • Employer vlogs and videos
  • Visits to employer premises
  • Careers carousel and employer networking days
  • Specific workshops (for example, interview hints and tips or mock interviews)
  • Careers fairs

The level of involvement is up to you. You can support a single school with one event or choose to support several schools and many events.

When we chat to you, we will take some details about the support you can offer. These details are stored on our database.

When we receive a request from a school for support, one of our Business Engagement Advisers will be in touch. They will discuss the event or activity, explain what is required and find out if you are able to offer support.

If required, the Business Engagement Adviser will help you to plan what you will deliver.

On the day of an event, the Business Engagement Adviser will meet you at the school or other venue. They will introduce you to the teacher and ensure that you have the resources you need.

Alumni Project

We are helping secondary schools across Wales to build their communities of past pupils.

There are lots of ways that former pupils can support their old school. They could share their career story, attend school events like mock interviews, presentations, or prize giving or provide a shadowing opportunity.

If you went to school in Wales and would like to support your old school, please complete this short form.

School Valued Partner Initiative

The School Valued Partner initiative gives recognition to employers who support individual schools through Careers Wales employer engagement activities.

Through the initiative, we will identify employers who have an ongoing relationship and who regularly support activities in these schools (a minimum of 3 activities per year). We will then recognise them as Valued Partners of the school.

Schools can have multiple School Valued Partners and employers can be School Valued Partners of more than one school.

Benefits of the initiative include:

  • Employers who are identified as School Valued Partners will be nominated for an award at the Valued Partner Award ceremony. The Valued Partner Award ceremony will showcase the initiative and celebrate the relationships between employers and schools
  • Careers Wales Business Engagement Advisers will chair an introductory meeting between the School Valued Partner and a senior member of the school staff to ensure that the support offered by the employer is recognised at a senior level in the school
  • Careers Wales Business Engagement Advisers will arrange a termly 'keeping in touch' contact (telephone call or meeting) with the school and the School Valued Partner, offering support and ideas for working together
