How do I find a job?

There are different ways to look for a job. Let's take a look at some of the ways you can start looking. 

Look at job websites

Most big employers will tell people about jobs on their own websites too. If you know where you’d like to work, look at the employer's website. Look at Employers recruiting now for a list of different employers.


Recruitment agencies

Recruitment agencies can help to find people jobs. You can join a recruitment agency. They will find out about you and see what jobs match your skills.

Use social media

Facebook, Twitter and Instagram icons

Lots of employers have their own Facebook and Twitter pages, and use these to tell people about jobs they have.

Things to think about when you're using social media:

  • Look at your privacy settings. Do you want everyone to see your profile?
  • Check through your feed history, posts, tweets and photos. Would you be happy for an employer to see them?
  • Ask your parents or teachers to look at your account to make sure it’s suitable for employers to look at

Examples of social media - Facebook and Twitter

Facebook

When using Facebook: 

  • You can like an employer’s Facebook page. This will let you know if they have a job
  • You can use Facebook to tell people that you are looking for work
  • Don’t forget, if you use Facebook, employers might look at your Facebook profile
Twitter

When using Twitter: 

  • You can follow an employer’s Twitter account. This will ‘tweet’ to let people know if they have a job
  • You can also search in Twitter using keywords such as 'jobs' to find out if there are any jobs
  • Don’t forget, if you use Twitter, employers might look at your Twitter feed
