How do I find a job?

There are different ways to look for a job. Let's take a look at some of the ways you can start looking. 

Job websites

Careers Wales has put a list together of useful websites to start searching for jobs. Look at Job Websites.

Look at Job Search to see a list of live jobs in Wales.


Look at other websites

Most big employers will tell people about jobs on their own websites too. If you know where you’d like to work, look at the employer's website. Look at Employers recruiting now for a list of different employers.


Recruitment agencies

Recruitment agencies can help to find people jobs. You can join a recruitment agency. They will find out about you and see what jobs match your skills.

Use social media

Things to think about when you're using social media:

  • Look at your privacy settings. Do you want everyone to see your profile?
  • Check through your feed history, posts, tweets and photos. Would you be happy for an employer to see them?
  • Ask your parents or teachers to look at your account to make sure it’s suitable for employers to look at

Examples of social media - Facebook and X

Facebook

When using Facebook: 

  • You can like an employer’s Facebook page. This will let you know if they have a job
  • You can use Facebook to tell people that you are looking for work
  • Don’t forget, if you use Facebook, employers might look at your Facebook profile
X

When using X: 

  • You can follow an employer’s X account. This will appear on your feed so you know if they're advertising a job
  • You can also search in X using keywords such as 'jobs' to find out if there are any jobs
  • Don’t forget, if you use X, employers might look at your X feed
