BBC Studios and BBC Cymru Wales’ story

Four from BBC Studios and BBC Cymru Wales holding the award

BBC Studios and BBC Cymru Wales have been working with Willows High School in Cardiff for four years. They are a School Valued Partner and organise different activities for pupils.

Making an impact

Over the years, BBC Studios and BBC Cymru Wales have supported activities including:

  • A visit to BBC Studios in Roath Lock for a careers session and set tour
  • Scriptwriting workshops where students wrote opening scenes for Casualty
  • A panel discussion with actors and a producer from Casualty
  • Costume and makeup workshops led by BBC staff
  • A careers visit to BBC Cymru Wales Media Centre with speed networking
  • A career talk with journalist Garry Owen

School Valued Partner

BBC staff work closely with teachers to ensure the activities link to lessons. They plan events to fit the school timetable and BBC productions.

BBC have been excellent 'Valued Partners' to our school. We have built an effective working relationship where we visit the studios regularly and they visit our classroom for workshops.

“We would like to thank Careers Wales for their continued hard work, liaison and dedication to providing links and opportunities in a variety of industries. This is a key factor in raising aspirations for youngsters across the city.”

Kelly Bubbins, Deputy Headteacher at Willows High School
