Canolfan S4C Yr Egin’s Story

Dau aelod o staff Canolfan S4C Yr Egin yn dal y wobr

Canolfan S4C Yr Egin is a creative and digital hub in Carmarthenshire. They promote the use of Welsh language in the workplace and highlight its value as a skill for employees.

Working with Careers Wales

Canolfan S4C Yr Egin has worked with Careers Wales to support schools in south-west Wales.

They have taken part in Welsh language employer engagement activities, including:

  • Mock interviews
  • Careers presentations
  • Curriculum enrichment activities

They are also School Valued Partners to two schools in Carmarthenshire. One of these is a Welsh-speaking school. All the support for this school is delivered through the medium of Welsh.

Canolfan S4C Yr Egin also supports Careers Wales’ digital delivery initiatives. They have contributed to both Welsh and English-language projects. This includes campaigns such as Careers Discovery Week and other online events.

Digital creative jobs

Canolfan S4C Yr Egin collaborated with Careers Wales to host an “Insight into the Digital Creative Industries” event. Pupils from three Welsh-speaking schools in Carmarthenshire attended the event at the centre.

The Year 12 learners took part in workshops run in Welsh by companies in the digital sector. The aim of this was to show how useful Welsh is in these jobs.

Award winners

Careers Wales presented the company with a Valued Partner Award in January 2025. Canolfan S4C Yr Egin won the 'Best Promoter of Welsh in the Workplace' award.

Winning this award means a great deal to us, as we work closely with Careers Wales to engage young people with the world of work. They are the future of the workplace, and it’s vital that we dedicate time and share our expertise to help develop them into skilled professionals for the industry. At S4C Yr Egin, we operate through the medium of Welsh every day, so it’s fantastic to showcase this to students and highlight the importance of the Welsh language in our industry.
