JCB's story

JCB is one of the top three manufacturers of construction equipment in the world. The company has inspired many young people to pursue a career in construction.

Working with Careers Wales

JCB have supported many activities including:

  • Apprentice talks
  • Mock interviews
  • Choose your Future events
  • Employer networking
  • Mock results day
  • Alumni talks

JCB is also a School Valued Partner with Ysgol y Grango school.

Working with the school

JCB has a dedicated classroom space for learners. Craig Weeks is the General Manager at JCB Transmissions in Wrexham. He speaks to pupil groups before and after they tour the manufacturing facility.

JCB has also gifted large pictures of their equipment for school engineering classrooms. They hope the images will promote and inspire careers in engineering.

Award winners

JCB was presented with a Valued Partner Award by Careers Wales in November 2023. They won in the category of Best Newcomer. This recognised the company's recent engagement and partnership with Careers Wales.

Careers Wales business engagement adviser, Lesley Lloyd, works closely with Craig and JCB. She said: “The support from JCB has been fantastic. Craig’s commitment to inspiring young people has been second to none.”

“He wants to create meaningful and long-lasting partnerships with schools.  He is enthusiastic about inspiring people in Wrexham to see JCB as an employer of choice.”

Craig Weeks, General Manager at JCB Transmissions in Wrexham, said: “This is a start of a journey for us. We are overwhelmed with this award, and I can’t wait to continue the work together with Careers Wales in the future.”
