How long do internships last?
Internships might last between a week and 12 months, depending on the industry and employer.
As a graduate you might have more flexibility to take an internship for longer than if you are still studying.
Do I get a wage on an internship?
According to the UK Government, if you are classed as a worker then you should be paid at least the National Minimum Wage. Take a look at the employment rights for interns on Gov.uk.
You are not entitled to pay if:
- The placement is part of your university course
- You are only shadowing someone and not carrying out work yourself
- Your internship is classed as a voluntary role

Any industry could offer an internship but here are some of the main industries that hire interns:

Where do I find an internship?
Find internships on specialist websites, use a search engine, job sites or social media, or visit the websites of larger companies. The application requirements will vary by opportunity and company.
